Wisconsin Rep. Cindi Duchow got a tantalizing glimpse at the state of manufacturing in Wisconsin when she recently toured Versevo’s plant in Hartland, WI. During her 90-minute visit, she got to see how machine tools are built using methods that combine Old World craftsmanship with cutting edge technology.

“She was very impressed with the level of work happening here, the size of the company and how far we’ve come as a manufacturer,” explains Versevo president and CEO Terry Moon. “She had no idea that a company of our caliber is doing business in her back yard.”

Rep. Duchow is a strong supporter of business and manufacturing in Wisconsin. She has consistently supported reducing taxes and regulations on businesses, while at the same time advocating increased investment in schools and trades-based education. According to her website:

Job creation will only be meaningful if new and existing businesses are free to grow with less constraint and retain more of their hard-earned money. We also need to create a skilled workforce that meets the demands of local businesses. To accomplish this, we need to establish programs that train our children in high school and two-year colleges for our state's many trades and teach them new technology to become more productive than competitive states.

During Rep. Duchow’s visit, Moon emphasized the need for skilled tradespeople, who are in short supply as the manufacturing sector grows. “We talked about apprenticeships and mentoring programs with local high schools, as well as the Waukesha County Technical College.”

Moon appreciates Rep. Duchow’s support of Wisconsin businesses, which is rooted in her family’s history as the owners of Duchow’s Marine. This well-known local company has been in business for over 86 years. In its current form, Duchow’s Boats, it is based in Pewaukee and is a leading dealer of family runabout boats, a vendor for used boats and a retailer of boat accessories.

Two of Versevo’s customers also have ties to Wisconsin’s marine industry and the Duchow family: For many years, Bombardier Recreational Products (Evinrude) and Mercury Marine have supplied outboard engines to power the boats they have sold.

“Rep. Duchow has a deep understanding of what makes businesses successful. That makes her a perfect advocate for Versevo and companies like us in Madison,” he explains. “She believes the future of business in Wisconsin is bright. I couldn’t agree more.”
